This Sunday

August 2nd
The Ninth Sunday after Pentecost
(Proper 13)

Let your continual mercy, O Lord, cleanse and defend your Church; and, because it cannot continue in safety without your help, protect and govern it always by your goodness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

8am: Holy Eucharist
Our early service is unaccompanied by music and usually lasts about 50 minutes. Coffee and fellowship are offered before the service begins in the parish hall, while the sanctuary is available for quiet prayer. Another coffee hour follows the service.

9am: Sunday School Meeting
Meet with prospective teacher, helpers, Vestry representative, and Fr. Ben to discuss the New Sunday School happening this Fall.

10am: Holy Eucharist
Our late morning service is accompanied by organ music and congregational singing while our choir is on sabbatical for the summer months. Sunday school is also taking a summer vacation, but Nursery care is always available for our youngest members and guests. A festive coffee hour for children and adults follows the Eucharist.

12noon: Luncheon
For those staying after the 10am Eucharist or arriving early for the concert, a light lunch will be served around noon.

1pm: Concert
As a special farewell, Mark Andersen, our interim organist, has put together a selection of music featuring organ, handbells, harp, and a familiar voice. Come and say thanks to Mark while enjoying some first rate music.

Upcoming Events

TOMORROW! Mother Earth Farm in Puyallup produces 160,000 pounds of organic vegetables and fruits each year for local food banks and other emergency food programs in Pierce County. The Farm relies on volunteers to help with planting, weeding, and harvesting. Our Christ Church group had a great experience at the farm in the Spring and we're looking forward to checking on the plants in August that we gingerly weeded around in May. Our second Christ Church volunteer day will be on Saturday, August 1st. Please join our important ministry to help feed the hungry. You might even have the opportunity to become acquainted with the amazing Hula Hoe!  There will be a sign up sheet in the Parish Hall. Please contact Robin Partington for more information.

This Sunday, August 2nd, a Farewell Luncheon and Concert will be given at 1:00pm in the Sanctuary, in honor of Mark Andersen and his organ work with us for the past eight months. Plan to attend this offering of organ, harp, bell, and voice. A light lunch will be available at noon for those who wish to stay after the 10am Eucharist or those who would like to come early for the concert.

Forward 'Day by Day' devotionals: for August, September, October are in the Parish Hall on the table by the name tag board.

Support our Troops mailing: will be August 30th. There is a list of wanted items printed on gold paper on the welcome table in the Parish Hall. Let's start collecting items soon so we will have lots of boxes to mail. Monetary donations are always welcome, too, to cover postage costs.

A Bake Sale to support the Women's Retreat Ministry will be offered at 9am on Sunday, August 30th. Come enjoy food, fellowship, and fun!
